Terms of Service

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to projectoption. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the projectoption website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by projectoption, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), a Delaware limited liability company.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

projectoption is a web-based options analysis and portfolio modeling platform. The Service provides tools for visualizing options strategies, analyzing theoretical profit and loss scenarios, and modeling portfolio risk through features including, but not limited to:

  • Options chain browsing and contract selection
  • Theoretical P/L curve generation
  • Time decay modeling (T+ lines)
  • Implied volatility adjustment tools
  • Position adjustment comparison
  • Educational content and strategy visualizers

3. Important Disclaimers

3.1 Not Financial Advice

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FOR EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. NOTHING CONTAINED IN THE SERVICE CONSTITUTES FINANCIAL ADVICE, INVESTMENT ADVICE, TRADING ADVICE, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF ADVICE.

You should not make any financial, investment, or trading decisions based solely on information provided through the Service. Always consult with a qualified financial advisor, broker, or other professional before making investment decisions.

3.2 Theoretical Models and Limitations

The P/L curves, risk projections, time decay models, and implied volatility calculations provided by the Service are theoretical models based on mathematical formulas and assumptions. These models:

  • May not accurately reflect actual market conditions or real trading outcomes
  • Do not account for market frictions such as bid-ask spreads, slippage, commissions, or fees
  • Do not account for liquidity constraints or the ability to execute trades at displayed prices
  • Are based on implied volatility derived from market prices, which may contain errors or lag
  • May have inherent limitations in their mathematical assumptions

Past performance of any modeled strategy does not guarantee future results. Options trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. Before trading options, you should read Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options, published by The Options Clearing Corporation.

3.3 No Brokerage Services

The Service does not connect to any brokerage accounts and does not facilitate the execution of any securities transactions. All portfolios created within the Service are hypothetical and for modeling purposes only. The Company is not a registered broker-dealer, investment advisor, or financial planner.

3.4 Market Data

Market data displayed in the Service, including stock and option prices, is derived from third-party data providers and represents estimated fair market values rather than official exchange quotes. This data is subject to delays of up to 60 seconds, as well as potential inaccuracies and interruptions. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any market data. Prices displayed may differ from prices available at your broker. Market data is provided by Massive (formerly Polygon.io).

4. User Accounts

4.1 Account Creation

Certain features of the Service require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and to keep this information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

4.2 Account Security

You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. We will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.

4.3 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at business@projectoption.com or through account settings if such functionality is available. Upon account deletion, we will delete your account information and portfolio data within 30 days, except for information we are required to retain for legal, accounting, or security purposes. If you have an active paid subscription, you should cancel your subscription through the Stripe Customer Portal before requesting account deletion. Account deletion does not entitle you to a refund for any unused portion of your subscription.

5. Subscription and Payments

5.1 Free and Paid Services

The Service offers both free tools (available without an account) and premium features requiring a paid subscription. Free tools include pricing calculators, strategy visualizers, and educational content. Premium features, including the Position Modeler, require an active paid subscription.

5.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed through Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"). By subscribing to paid features, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and privacy policy. We do not store your payment card information on our servers. Subscription management, including cancellation and billing history, is handled through the Stripe Customer Portal.

5.3 Billing and Cancellation

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access to premium features until that time. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

6. Electronic Communications

By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to receive electronic communications from us, including but not limited to:

  • Transactional emails (account verification, password resets, subscription confirmations, receipts)
  • Service announcements (maintenance, security alerts, policy changes, new features)
  • Promotional communications (product updates, educational content, special offers)

You may opt out of promotional communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us at business@projectoption.com. You cannot opt out of transactional or service-related communications while maintaining an active account.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service or any systems or networks connected to the Service; (c) interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service; (d) use any robot, spider, scraper, or other automated means to access the Service; (e) reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the Service; or (f) resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by projectoption, LLC and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

9. Feedback and Submissions

If you provide us with any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or other submissions regarding the Service ("Feedback"), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such Feedback in any media without compensation, attribution, or prior approval. You waive any "moral rights" in such Feedback. We are under no obligation to use any Feedback or to keep any Feedback confidential.

10. User Data

Portfolio positions and other data you create within the Service are stored on our servers. This data represents hypothetical positions for modeling purposes and may not reflect your actual brokerage positions. You retain ownership of the data you input into the Service. We may use aggregated, anonymized data for analytics and service improvement purposes.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PROJECTOPTION, LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM: (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; (C) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE; (D) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT; OR (E) ANY TRADING LOSSES OR FINANCIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM RELIANCE ON INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH THE SERVICE.

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless projectoption, LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

15. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, epidemics or pandemics, strikes, power outages, internet or telecommunications failures, cyberattacks, or failures of third-party service providers (including data providers and hosting services). During any such period, our obligations under these Terms will be suspended, and we will not be liable for any resulting service interruptions or data inaccuracies.

16. Assignment and Transfer

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under these Terms, in whole or in part, without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets. Subject to the foregoing, these Terms will bind and inure to the benefit of the parties and their respective successors and permitted assigns.

17. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on the Service and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of these Terms. We may additionally provide notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
